For example in JACKOs Saginaw SG carbine the Underwood barrel is most likely the original barrel that it had when it left the factory because Saginaw SG used their own barrels as well as ones from Underwood, Inland, and Buffalo Arms in 1944. Their was also a lot of part swapping between manufactures and I have seen many nice carbines ruined from people trying to "correct" their carbines. Those that were made late 43 or early 44 came with a milled rear sight but, that is all manufacture specific. Notice the difference in the windage knob.Ī lot of people think that ALL Carbines came with L sights originally and that is not true. Then to further improve costs and production time they just started stamping them instead. The first sight was the "L" flip rear sight but because of the lack of adjustability they came out with the milled adjustable rear sight which is the one in the middle. Mine is far right sight and 2nd pic.sorry to hijackĪs far as rear sights go the M1 Carbine used 3 different types as indicated by the first pic. ![]()
